Natural & Healthy Ways To Cure Acne Permanently

How To Stop Picking Pimples

Pimples, also called zits or acne is a skin problem that is a nightmare to most people. It commonly affects adolescents but can occur at any age. Apart from causing you discomfort and scarring your face, pimples can also take away your confidence. The solutions to pimples range from the use of oral antibiotics to topical treatments and to homemade remedies. You however do not have to go through all these. You can get rid of pimples by learning easy ways to care for your skin.

So what causes pimples?

  • Nobody really knows the cause of pimples but hormones have been implicated. The hormones known as androgens cause the skin to produce large amounts of oil. These hormones are increased during puberty and this is why pimples are most commonly seen among adolescents. The hormones also increase during pregnancy and menstruation.
  • Some medications such as steroids and some antipsychotics.

Here are some healthy tips on  how to clear pimples permanently

1. Wash your face two to three times a day:

What to do:

You should wash your face routinely in the morning and in the evening but if you live in the tropics, three times in a day would be better especially on sunny days. This is because, on such days, you are likely to sweat more and have a more oily face. Warm water will help get rid of excess oil on your face better than cold water. Antiseptic soap may be a bit harsh on your face especially if you are not used to using it so mild soap is advised. Washing your face regularly will help keep your face clean and dry and thus prevent pimples.

What not to do:

Even though washing your face regularly is advised, you must avoid doing it in excess as this will cause your skin to be too dry. Some moisture is good to maintain healthy skin.

2. Use body creams rich in vitamin E:

What to do:

Check the contents of body creams before you buy them. Vitamin E is known for its ability to keep the skin healthy and prevent aging. Having vitamin E as part of the contents of your body cream gives you this added advantage.

What not to do:

Avoid rubbing excess skin products into your skin. It is advisable to apply products sparingly as excess body creams/lotions will clog the pores on your skin and lead to pimples.

3. Avoid picking pimples:

This is a very important ‘what not to do.’ You may think you are getting rid of pimples by picking them but what you don’t know is that it is just a small portion of the pus that comes out. A greater portion that you don’t see is pushed back into the skin leading to inflammation and scarring. This is why you get dark spots on your face after picking. These spots are even more difficult to clear than pimples.

Another disadvantage of picking is that you introduce more dirt and bacteria and thus cause more pimples to form.

4. Eat the right kind of food:

What to do:

The importance of fruits and vegetables can’t be overemphasized. You can never go wrong with these as part of your diet. They have anti-aging effects and they help keep your skin healthy.

Drink two and a half to three liters of water a day. This helps to keep your skin hydrated, flushes impurities from your body, and makes your skin smooth.

What not to do:

Avoid eating excess oily foods such as potato chips, fried plantain, groundnuts, etc. The excess oil will clog your skin pores and cause pimples.

5. Rest well:

You might wonder how this affects pimples. Stress is known to worsen pimples so do not deprive your body of the rest it needs.

Conclusion

Be patient. It can take days to weeks to see improvement after trying these steps but you will get good results and it will be worth the try.

If you notice pimples shortly after you start any medication, talk to your doctor about it. You might have to wait till you are off the medications before you see results.
