5 Ex-Beauty Queens Who Moved On To Achieve Bigger Things After Their Reign


In a world where we struggle to remain relevant and keeping achieving our goals, these former beauty queens have proven that not only can you have the looks but you can also have the brains to build and maintain your own brand. They have shown that their beauty is not skin deep and they are definitely here to stay.

The Nigerian beauty pageantry world has produced scores of queens but only a few have constantly kept the pace of their fame and achievement. From owning fashion brands to being serial entrepreneurs, these former queens do it all with effortless grace.

Here are five of them who are boss ladies in their own right.

1. Bianca Ojukwu

These former beauty queen took the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria crown in the year 1988. With a degree in Law, cosmetic brand and an interior decoration outfit, Bianca is a force to reckon with. Over the years through her marriage to former Biafran leader Chukwuemeka Ojukwu, she has been participating in politics and is even a member of the Board of Trustees of the All Progressives Grand Alliance.

2. Nike Oshinowo

Following her success at the MBGN in 1991, Nike has shown how much of a go-getter she is. After her reign which saw her compete at Miss World, Oshinowo featured in a commercial for Venus cosmetics and hosted a fashion and beauty show on Nigerian television. Her business ventures included an African restaurant and Skin Deep, a health and beauty spa. which ran for seven years before it was sold after she decided to create her own range of beauty products for the Nigerian market. On January 17, 2010, she released the workout video Nike Oshinowo: Fit, Forty and Fabulous – the first celebrity fitness DVD produced in the country – and is currently working on the beauty products which will include fragrance, skincare, and haircare. In 2014 she launched her own TV show.

3.  Agbani Darego


Agbani Darego not only won the MBGN crown in 2001 but in one of the most shocking moments in the Nigerian history she was crowned Miss World as well that same year, becoming the first native African to take the crown. After her tenure, she judged several pageants, launched her style and fashion reality show and in 2013 launched her own fashion line, AD by Agbani Darego.

4. Omowunmi Akinnifesi

 

 

This beauty with brains has shown over time that she is a wave maker and is not about to stop. Winning the MBGN in 2005, Omowunmi has take the platform the beauty pageant has given and built on it. Today she has a fashion brand, has a top endorsement deal with cosmetic brand, Nivea and is a style icon worthy of emulation.

5. Munachi Abii

Munachi is a beauty with an artistic soul. Taking the MBGN crown in 2007 has not stopped her from pursuing her dreams in music and what some don’t even know is that she paints as well. Munachi after her reign as beauty queen dived straight into the Nigerian music industry and she has not looked back since.
