This Is How This Nigerian Lady From Makoko Is Defying All Odds to Get An Education


 

John Mary is a young teacher living in Makoko who seeks to get the best that life has to offer amidst the struggles she faces as an inhabitant of the water bound Makoko slum.

Although there are expectations of marriage and pregnancy for her, John Mary desires a university education and to leave Makoko for a more rewarding life.

The fact that she makes an equivalent of $1 a day as a teacher does not dampen her spirits.

Mary John is a model of hopefulness and her life can serve as an example of how we can find happiness and fulfillment in our daily life, regardless of what it constitutes.
