MTN Nigeria has appointed Onyinye Ikenna-Emeka as its new Chief Marketing Officer, effective October 14, 2024.

Onyinye Ikenna-Emeka replaces Adia Sohwo, who stepped down as CMO in June 2024 after three years.

She began her career at MTN in 2001 as a corporate sales executive, where she has held several leadership roles.

With 24 years of experience in the telecommunications, logistics, and education sectors, her expertise includes sales, marketing, and customer management; conceptualizing go-to-market models; and nurturing new products into mature revenue-generating engines.

1. Onyinye Ikenna-Emeka has a Bachelor’s degree in Geology from the University of Calabar, Cross River State, and an MBA in General Management from the University of Manchester, United Kingdom.

2. She is currently studying for a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) at the School of Management, Cranfield University.

3. She is a fellow of the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN) and the Institute of Sales and Marketing Management of Nigeria (ISMMN)

4. She holds executive education certifications in leadership, commercial strategies, and technology innovation from Harvard, Stanford, Columbia, Said, and Lagos Business Schools.

5. She has also been involved in the development and management of profitable business models for high-end enterprises and digital initiatives projected to be telecommunication’s next area of growth.

6. She is known for her expertise in overseeing go-to-market models and has also helped nurture new products into mature revenue-generating engines.

7. Onyinye was the General Manager of Enterprise Sales from 2011 to 2015, where she led nationwide sales efforts, delivering consistent YoY growth for the business and driving expansion into new markets.

8. She also worked as the General Manager of Enterprise Marketing, Enterprise Business Division, MTN Nigeria, from 2015 to 2021.

9. Before her appointment as Chief Marketing Officer, she was Chief Broadband Officer, contributing to the evolution of the MTN fixed broadband business. Under her leadership, the Fixed Broadband Subscriber base grew to over 3 million.

10. She volunteers as a guest faculty member at the Tekedia Institute and is a member of the Fintech Nigeria Association.

11. She co-founded the OIE hub, where she podcasts and delivers commercial tips to sales and marketing professionals.
