Professor Olayinka David-West has been appointed as the new Dean of the Lagos Business School (LBS).
Her appointment is effective from January 1, 2025.
David-West is a Professor of Information Systems with almost three decades of experience in IT and financial services. Her research and practice engagements involve policy and strategic management interventions toward digitally transformed businesses and society.
Here are some interesting things to know about her.
1. Professor Olayinka David-West has a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Computer Science from the University of Lagos, a Master of Science (MSc) in Business Systems Analysis and Design from City University, London, and a Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) from Manchester Business School.
2. She began her career as the Head of Research and Development at TARA Systems Limited before advancing to become the Head of e-Business at the National Bank of Nigeria.
3. She was a senior fellow in operations and led sessions on information systems management in executive education and degree programs at the Lagos Business School (LBS).
4. She also served as an academic director, responsible for managing the faculty members and providing oversight of research and other academic activities, and was an academic director for the Enterprise Development Centre (EDC) of the Pan-Atlantic University.
6. David West was appointed as the Associate Dean of LBS in January 2021.
7. She is currently the program lead for the Sustainable and Inclusive Digital Financial Services (SIDFS) initiative, which is dedicated to conducting research, engaging stakeholders, and proposing policy amendments to enhance financial inclusion in Nigeria.
8. She holds professional certifications, including Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) and Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT (CGEIT).
9. In 2022, she joined the Advisory Board of NowNow Digital Systems Limited, an African digital banking platform providing financial services to SMEs, agents, and consumers.
10. She is a member of the implementation team for the Aso Accord on Economic and Financial Inclusion, an initiative, unveiled by Vice President of Nigeria, Kashim Shettima, designed to create a model and framework for enhancing economic and financial inclusion in Nigeria.
11. David-West was appointed as an Independent Non- Executive Director of Sterling Bank Ltd on the 18th of September, 2024.
