This Is How Stephanie Linus Is Advocating Against Human Trafficking In Italy

Nollywood star actress Stephanie Okere-Linus is presently in Italy, to advocate for victims of human trafficking and this is in partnership with international medical humanitarian organisation Doctors Without Borders (MSF).

This is coming just months after news broke about the increased rate of human trafficking being experienced by Nigerians trying to migrate to Europe via Libya.

Aside from advocating against the heinous human rights violations, Okere-Linus, also a film director and model, is also giving her support to those rescued.

According to Linus, her mission in Italy includes a visit to the rescue ship “Aquarius” to witness the activities and operations going on there which she did on the 11th of January 2018.

Her visit to the ship was a very productive one as she and her team were given a tour of the ship, and afterwards, discussions on the important need to educate people on the dangers of being trafficked and integrating the rescued victims back followed.

There was also a press conference where she spoke about measures that can be used to curb human trafficking, stating that working together, can get the high percentage of human trafficking down drastically and hopefully soon, eliminate this world issue.

She also intends to have meetings with some women; participate in rehabilitation exercises for the rescued women, media parleys and stakeholder meetings with the aim of alleviating their sufferings and preventing more girls and women from falling prey.
