Nigeria’s Super Falcons have been ranked as the 10th-best team at the recently concluded 2023 `FIFA Women’s World Cup tournament.
The nine-time African champion earned 10th place ahead of big gun ahead of football giants Germany, Brazil, Italy, Canada, Portugal, and Argentina.
An impressive Nigeria squad held Olympic winners Canada to a goalless draw in the first round, then stunned co-hosts Australia 3-2 to advance to the next round after a goalless draw with debutants Republic of Ireland.
The Super Falcons were unbeaten in the group stage finishing second behind co-hosts Australia before their elimination in the Round of 16, losing 4-2 on penalties to the English team.
This ranking also places Randy Waldrum’s side as the best-ranked African team in the tournament ahead of Morocco, South Africa, and Zambia.
According to a report, FIFA ranked the participating teams based on their performance. This is because the teams that were eliminated at the same stage are ranked based on the way they were knocked out.
