Zainab Ahmed has recently been appointed as the Acting Minister of Finance by President Buhari. She is a seasoned public servant who has many years of experience in the financial and governmental sector. She was appointed after the resignation of Mrs. Kemi Adeosun on the 14th of September, 2018.

1. Birth and Age

She was born in Kaduna on the 16th of June 1960 and is currently 58 years old.

 

2. Secondary Education

Zainab Ahmed got her WASC ‘O’ Level in 1977 from Queen Amina College, Zaria, and her IJMB ‘A’ Levels from ABU Zaria in 1979.

 

3. Tertiary Education

She has a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and an MBA from Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye.

 


4. Career

Zainab Ahmed started her career in 1992 as an accountant in Kaduna State Ministry of Finance and then went on to work in NITEL.

 

 

5. Youth Service

She served the nation as a youth corper in 1981/1982, working as an Audit Trainee in Messrs. Egunjobi Suleiman & Co. Chartered Accountants which was her place of primary assignment.

 

6. Appointment

Zainab Ahmed was appointed as the Minister of State for Budget and National Planning in 2015 following the National General Elections.

 

7. Telecommunications

Between July 2002 and 2009, she served as the Acting Chief Finance Officer in MTEL, Nigerian Mobile Telecommunications Ltd.
