7 Things You Should Know About Sultry Nollywood Actress, Yvonne Jegede


Nollywood actress, Yvonne Jegede who is famous for her cameo appearance in Tuface’s African Queen celebrated her 35th birthday a few days ago.

The dark-skinned beauty who hails from Edo State is also a producer, model, television personality, and philanthropist.

Yvonne was born on August 25th, 1983 in Agenebode, Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo State, Nigeria. She had her primary and secondary education in Lagos, Nigeria as a child growing up.

1. She started out featuring in music videos

Yvonne featured in Tuface’s African Queen music video which was the beginning of her fame. Her appearance in the music video gave rise to some speculations that she had a thing with Tuface. When asked if she was in a love affair with him, Yvonne said there was no such thing and her relationship with Tuface was purely professional. Yvonne also appeared in Djnee’s music video Ego, and Sound Sultan’s Kokose video.

2. She got her bachelor’s degree from Cyprus

Yvonne left Nigeria to study in Cyprus for a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations before returning to Nigeria in 2012 to continue acting movies in Nollywood


3. She has acted in more than 150 Nollywood movies

The first movie she featured in was ‘Missing Angels’, a Nollywood movie of 2004. She also featured in ‘3 Is Company’, a movie she produced herself in 2015 and starred in as the female lead. She has acted in ‘Okafor’s Law’, ‘Pot Of Life’, ‘Gold Statue’, ‘Side Chic Squad’, ‘Single And Married’, ’10 Days In Sun City’, ‘The Silver Spoon’, ‘The Sassy One’, ‘Climax’, ‘Gone To America’, ‘Crazy Ex-Girlfriend’, ‘Forget Me Not’, ‘True Lies’, ‘Smiles Of Sweet Love’, ‘Two Hearts That Bind Together’, ‘Strange Affection’ and so on.

4. She is happily married

She is happily married to Olakunle Fawole, an actor also whom she wedded after ten years of dating. Her wedding was certainly a colorful traditional wedding in Edo State with many actors and actresses in attendance.

She even made the cover of the wedding edition of Genevieve Magazine owing to her beautiful wedding attire.

5. She has won a number of awards

She was given the award for Best Actress of the Year during the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, a major award in the entertainment industry in Nigeria. She has been rightly recognized as the most promising Nigerian actress which award was given her at the City People Entertainment Awards, another major Nollywood event. She has also been awarded best supporting actress at the Africa Movie Academy Awards, the foremost African movie event even bigger than the first two.

6. She is also a businesswoman

Yvonne is a brand ambassador for Maon Homes, a fast-growing real estate service provider registered in Nigeria. She is also the owner of Choco Luxury, a makeup brand.

7. She has had her fair share of rumours

It was rumoured that she had undergone plastic surgery for breast enhancement which she denounced. The actress said she had always been busty right from her teen years. It was also reported that she had a miscarriage, a report that really upset her. She said no such thing happened and the reporter should have at least spoken to her before reporting such untrue stories. She was upset that people would wish her bad luck just because they needed stories and rejected such wishes which she said would not happen to her.
