But what does it really mean?

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), An asymptomatic is a person infected with COVID-19 who does not develop symptoms.

Asymptomatic transmission refers to the transmission of the virus from a person, who does not develop symptoms.

This should not be confused with pre-symptomatic, which means a person does not show the symptoms in the early stages of the illness but develops them later on.

For those who are not asymptomatic, the time between infection and the onset of symptoms can range from one to 14 days. Most infected people show symptoms within five to six days.

4. It is possible that a large number of people could already have coronavirus despite not showing any symptoms, and it is impossible to differentiate who is who.

5. Those who are asymptomatic will usually not die from the disease.

6. However, If an asymptomatic patient acquires another disease that suppresses the immunity and does not get immediate medical attention, there is a possibility the patient dies from the viral infection.

7. Younger age groups are likely asymptomatic carriers, although it cannot be confirmed without a test.

Ways An Asymptomatic Carrier Can Spread The Virus

Asymptomatic people can spread the virus in many ways like spitting, coughing, and sneezing.

Infection can also be passed on through direct contact with others or by contaminating surfaces and objects.

The fact that many people can spread the new coronavirus without knowing they’re infected is a key difference between COVID-19 and other diseases.

How to protect yourself from an asymptomatic carrier

Like every other preventive measure related to Covid-19, It is recommended to wash your hands frequently with soap and water, keep surfaces and objects clean and wear face masks, especially in crowded places.

Where possible, maintain a safe distance between yourself and others – particularly if they are coughing and sneezing and avoid touching your face, eyes, and mouth with unwashed hands.
