Bukky Wright is a popular Nigerian actress, producer, politician, and businesswoman. Although she has been off the entertainment scene, the veteran actress truly made her mark during her heyday.
Here are a few notable facts about Bukky Wright.
1. Bukky Wright was born Oluwabukola Sekinat Ajoke Wright on 31 March 1967 to a Christian father and a Muslim mother in Abeokuta.
2. She attended the University of Lagos, earning a bachelor’s degree in economics.

3. She began her acting career in 1996, featuring in Wale Adenuga’s television series Super Story, but it was her role in Tunde Kelani’s Saworoide in 1999 that brought her into the limelight.
4. Bukky has been featured in several Nollywood movies in the Yoruba and English languages, including Saworoide (1999), Agogo Eewo (2002), Agbeke (2004), Abeni 1&2 (2006), Narrow Path (2006), Omotara Johnson (2009), Iya Alake, Kodun Kopo Kope (KKK), Arinzo (2013), Ale Eru Jeje (2017), and Omo Ologbon Meji.
5. She took a break from the acting industry to focus on her children. During her break, she moved to the United States and shifted to a different career path, becoming a certified cybersecurity analyst.
6. In 2011, she won the Best Nollywood Actress of the Year Award.
7. In 2014, she contested for the post of an honorable member in the Ogun State House of Assembly under the platform of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) led by former governor Olusegun Osoba.

10. She has two sons, Oluwagbenga Jerry Amu-Wright (also known as Ojayy Wright) and Eniola, from her first marriage. She became a grandmother when her first son, Ojay Wright, welcomed a baby girl with his girlfriend in the United States in 2014.

13. In February 2026, Bukky announced the forthcoming release of “The Return of Omotara Johnson,” which is a sequel to her 2009 Nollywood blockbuster movie “Omotola Johnson.” The movie will feature a star-studded cast similar to the original.
