How To Box Braid

Box braiding is not as difficult as it appears as with determination, patience and passion, you would be perfect at it in no time.

Easy steps on how to box braid:

1. Take a section of hair, split it into three equal parts. Create a standard three-strand by weaving the left section over the middle, followed by the right. Repeat this plaiting process until you reach the end of the hair.

Note: Try not to make your plaits too tight. No one wants to lose hair or get a headache because of tension!

2. If you have tight curls, coils, or kinky hair, the fullness of your hair textures should be able to hold the braid in place without the use of a hairband. But don’t worry if you have fine or straight hair, just secure the end of your braid with an invisible snag-free hair elastic.

3. Repeat this process until you’ve parted and plaited the entire horizontal section of hair. Once you’ve completed this row of hair, unclip your sectioned locks above, take your comb, and part your hair horizontally once more, creating another 2cm high row, just above.

Again, section the row of hair vertically to create a box parting and create a standard three-strand plait. Now, repeat this method until you’ve completed the whole section.

4. When you’ve finished the first of your four segments, move on to your next section until you’ve done your whole head of hair.
