The pandemic has had diverse effects on people, and it was no shock that Mayra was scared for her life.

The doctors made sure to play their role and give her hope by assuring her that she would be in perfect health if the transplant went right.

According to Mayra, “I couldn’t talk, I could barely lift a finger, and I couldn’t move. I was in a lot of pain; I was very confused.”

She had the transplant while sick with coronavirus, and she says all she could remember was nightmares.
Some of the nightmares consisted of drowning, and I attribute that to not being able to breathe.”

The doctors attribute the transplant process’s success to the fact that she is young and has never had any bad medical history, as she is just 28 years old.

Mayra advises people, saying:

This is not a hoax; the virus is real, and it happened to me.”
