Mo Abudu Puts Nigeria On The Map With Her Latest Achievement


Ebony Life TV Boss, Mosunmola “Mo” Abudu is definitely having an amazing year. The media mogul is set to receive the 2019 MIPTV Médailles d’Honneur in Cannes alongside three other television executives. The other three are Stéphane Courbit (France) Jane Millichip (United Kingdom) and Ilene Chaiken (USA).

Mo Abudu who has been described by Forbes as “Africa’s Most Successful Woman” shared the exciting news via her Instagram page.

Good morning beautiful people. I am thankful and overjoyed at the news of being one of the 4 recipients of the 2019 Médailles d’Honneur at MIP TV. This news was announced yesterday??????. So off to Cannes in a couple of months to receive this Médailles d’Honneur. I am so excited and most grateful for this recognition of our work and more than anything, that our stories are now making a difference across the globe. We must be in the room!!! Our stories must be told, heard and seen – loud and clear!!! Yes, we are changing the narrative!! It really is happening!!! She is the Executive Producer of Fifty, the no.1 Nigerian film of 2015; The Wedding Party (2016), the most successful Nollywood film ever at the Nigerian box office; The Wedding Party 2: Destination Dubai (2017), the highest grossing Nollywood film of all time; and Chief Daddy (2018), the third-highest grossing Nigerian film.

The MIPTV Médailles d’Honneur is usually awarded to senior executives who have, through their talent, leadership and passion, made a significant contribution to the world of television and the development of the international TV community.

The four will receive their MIPTV Médailles d’Honneur at a cocktail and awards ceremony taking place in Cannes, France, at the InterContinental Carlton Hotel on Monday 8 April 2019.

“It is a great honour to recognise these four exceptional industry figures, who have each, in their own way, made and continue to make major contributions to the international entertainment content sector, and whose vision and leadership set the standards in their respective fields,” said Laurine Garaude, Director, TV Division, Reed MIDEM, which organises MIPTV.

The international market for both TV content development and distribution, MIPTV takes place in Cannes, France from 8-11 April 2019.
