These women are not only talented but have also had the opportunity to showcase their writing skills as they have successfully published books.
From writing memoirs to self-help books, here are eleven Nigerian female celebrities who are authors.
1. Toke Makinwa
Nigerian on-air personality and fashion influencer Toke Makinwa took the world by surprise when she released her tell-all book titled “On Becoming” in 2016.
The controversial book details her life, relationship, and failed marriage. It made it to number two on the list of twenty-five best-selling books of 2016 on Okada Book.
2. Eva Alordiah
Rapper, writer, and content creator, Eva Alordiah made her writing debut when she released her semi-erotic book “11: A Collection of Short Semi-Erotic Stories” in 2016. Since then, she has gone on to publish other books.
3. Juliana Olayode
Famous for her character as ToyoBaby in the popular Nigerian TV series, Jenifa’s Diary, Julianah Olayode is another author whose story was emotional and heartwarming.
In her book titled “Rebirth: From Grass to Grace,” which she released in 2017, the actress shared details of how she got into Nollywood, her struggles as a child, and her quick rise to fame.
4. Amara Kanu
Fitness coach and entrepreneur, Amara Kanu launched her book, ‘Healthy Living With Amara Kanu’ in 2017. In the book, the mother of three shares the secret to having a great body.
She dedicated the book to her footballer husband, Kanu Nwankwo.
5. Jane Micheal Ekanem
Celebrity stylist and fashion entrepreneur, Jane Micheal Ekanem recently released a tell-all book to mark her 32nd birthday in April 2018.
The book titled “April The 29th”, which”took her two years to write, has her sharing her struggles to gain ground with her business, surviving the depression and borderline bankruptcy.
6. Omoni Oboli
Nollywood actress, Omoni Oboli, famous for her excellent acting and gorgeous natural hairstyles, released an autobiography titled “The Stars Are Ageless” to mark her 40th birthday.
In this book, the mother of three boys shares her journey through life, marriage, and the issues surrounding her controversial movie “Okafor’s Law”.
7. Laura Ikeji
Brand influencer and business owner, Laura Ikeji who is also the younger sister to top blogger Linda Ikeji released a self-help book titled “How To Make Money On Instagram”. The book which was released in 2018 sold out in less than 24 hours.
8. Betty Irabor
Media entrepreneur, publisher, and founder of Genevieve magazine, Betty Irabor first launched her memoir, ‘Morning Dew’ in 2010.
However, her book, ‘Dust to Dew’, which was launched in July 2018, gained national acclaim. It detailed the 67-year-old’s life as she struggled with mental health and depression.
9. Chika Ike
Actress, filmmaker, and businesswoman, Chika Ike launched her book, ‘Boss Up’:
Boss Up is a guide on how to work around the obstacles of life (fear, convention, love, money, and self-esteem)—to get your life moving smoothly.
Harvard Business School also endorsed the book.
10. Toyin Lawani
Celebrity stylist and entrepreneur, Toyin Lawani, who is known for her jaw-dropping fashion designs, launched ‘Be Unstoppable’ in October 2018. In the book, she shares The Business Mogul’s Guide.
According to her, the purpose of the book is to share a few business tips that have worked for her over the years and her personal experiences in business, which answer questions for entrepreneurs.
11. Onyeka Onwenu
Iconic singer, Onyeka Onwenu released her memoir on October 1, 2020. Titled ‘Her Father’s Daughter’, the autobiography details the personal life of the singer.
