A Nigerian lady who graduated with a first-class at 18 shares her story as she turns a year older.
Oluwateniola Shyllon finished from Babcock University with a degree in Economics.
She also recounts how she emerged top of her class in the first semester.
Sharing her story via LinkedIn, she wrote:
At 18, I’m excited to announce that I am a first-class Economics graduate from Babcock University!
Coming into university at 15 was so tough on me, and it took a while for me to get used to. But in my first semester, when I emerged top in my class (GPA:4.91/5.0), I knew that I would be okay.
The journey has finally come to an end and I’m filled with mixed emotions. However, I am grateful to God for helping me, and for bringing such wonderful friends to my life in my stay at Babcock University. I am also grateful to my family and my mentors.
In school, I learnt so much, but most importantly, I learnt about myself. I was privileged to have numerous internships, trainings, and extracurricular activities, and I learnt more about me as a person; my strengths, weaknesses, likes and dislikes.
Amidst my multiple academic awards, I am most excited about being awarded “Personality of the Year” by the Economics Students Association 2021.
I am a bit apprehensive about this new journey, but I know that everything up till this moment has prepared me for a time like this.
As I turn 19 tomorrow, all that fills my heart is gratitude for the journey so far!
