Every pregnant woman needs to maintain a healthy diet in order to help the baby grow well. A diet lacking the key nutrients may negatively affect the baby’s development.

During this period, you must make sure you’re taking foods that contain the right amount of nutrient needed for your child growth and development.

1.Oats and mixed fruits

2.Akara and Ogi (Pap, Akamu)

Legumes are needed in the diet of a pregnant woman in order to aid proper baby development. Akara is made from a leguminous plant (beans). While ogi/papa/akamu are made from soybeans or corn which provides vitamins for the body.

3.Whole Wheat Pancake And Berries

Consuming whole wheat pancake will help increase your fibre intake at breakfast. The berries like strawberries add a vitamin C boost for a healthy immune system.

4.Bread and Egg

This is like a normal breakfast in almost every Nigerian home. You can choose to boil or fry your egg. The bread should be made from whole wheat.

5.Greek Yoghurt And Fruits

Pregnant women who do not have an adequate intake of calcium may face. Greek yoghurt is the best source of calcium amongst dairy products; as such, it will not only support the mother’s body through the pregnancy but will also help the baby develop strong bones and teeth.
