After A Breakup, These Are The 7 Things You Shouldn’t Be Doing With Your Ex

Things Not To Do With An Ex

Now that you have broken up with your ex, all you have left are memories of your time together. It is a common occurrence for relationships to end, but regardless of the circumstances, it still hurts to let go of what might have been.

Those days when you are at your weakest, and you feel like seeing your ex again and maybe even restarting your relationship will surely come. Some memories you have had with them will surely haunt you, but this is not the time to run back to them, most especially if you are now in a new relationship.

Even if you parted ways on good terms, there are limits to what you can do together now (after all, the breakup was caused by something). This is not only for your own sake but also for the sake of other people in your lives.

If there is any hope of reconciliation at all, you both will have to trash it out properly, but while you are still calling yourselves ‘exes,’ these are the things you should not be doing with your ex anymore.

1. Having sex together

The reason for this is quite simple; there are absolutely no grounds for it. Under what category can you possibly be having sex with your ex? Friendship with benefits, love, or lust? Continuing to have sexual relations with an ex keeps you emotionally tied to them.

Remember, they are not obligated to care about you or your emotions anymore, so you put yourself at risk of getting hurt when they eventually move on.

2. No more long calls of any form

What could you possibly want to talk about? If the breakup was a result of incompatibility, a clean break is what you need. Carrying on with constant communication with your ex will only hinder you from moving on and giving other people a chance with you.

3. You should not hang out longer than necessary

You can meet an ex for a chat or even lunch, especially if you are still on good terms, but spending a protracted number of hours with them is not advisable. The more time you spend together, the more you remember how good you guys actually were together. You can ignore this if you believe there is a chance of your working things out again.

4. Giving expensive gifts or gifts with sentimental value

It’s a no-brainer: giving your ex gifts with sentimental value is an obvious indicator you are still emotionally attached to them, except, of course, you still want that ex back; this is a no-no. Expensive gifts also show you care too much.

5.  Don’t try to be just friends

Very rarely will you see a situation where two exes become good friends; very rare. You can maintain a civil relationship with them, but trying to be buddies is a futile effort.

6. Don’t try to stalk him

Now listen, if he broke up with you, take it in good faith and forget about him. Stalking him on social media or in-person not only prolongs your pain, but it also doesn’t make you look good either.

7. No business dealings together

Maybe you both started a business together while dating; after the break-up, it’s better you part ways. Handling business as a couple is tedious enough, but doing it as exes will jeopardize your investments at the end of the day. Neither of you can be trusted to make your decisions based solely on the good of the company.

With the bond that you shared previously gone, you both will tend to be more inclined to make decisions that will favor you individually.
