If you grew up in the late eighties/early nineties and you remember watching Christian movies like Agbara Nla and Perilous Times, then the name Gloria Bamiloye will definitely ring a bell.

The gospel actress, producer, and director, alongside her husband, are said to be the pioneers of Christian movies in Nigeria under the Mount Zion Faith Ministries.

Here are some facts about her as she turns a year older.

1. Gloria Olushola Bamiloye was born February 4, 1964, in Ilesha, Osun State.

2. She was born into a Muslim family.

3. She lost her father at an early age and was raised by her mother single-handedly.

4. After studying English Language and Religious Studies at Oyo State College of Education, Ilesha, she trained as a teacher at the Divisional Teachers Training College at Ipetumodu.

5. She realized she had a passion for acting at the college of education, so she joined her fellowship drama ministry and started acting in stage plays in the fellowship.

6. She met her husband, Mike Bamiloye, at the drama fellowship in 1983.

7. She co-founded the Mount Zion Drama Ministry in 1985 with her husband, Mike, just after she said ‘YES’ to his proposal.

8. She responded to her husband’s proposal after one month of praying by writing on a paper, ‘I will marry you.

9. She was 24 years old when they got married on October 8, 1988.

 

10. Her parents didn’t approve of the marriage, as they felt her husband wasn’t financially capable and didn’t have a job.

11. Their marriage is blessed with three children (2 boys and a girl) who are all married with children.

12. She played lead roles in several Mount Zion Movies, such as Agbara Nla (Ultimate Power), Ewu Igba Ikehin, Perilous Times, The Great Mistake, Covenant Child, Blood on the Altar, The Haunting Shadows, Apoti Eri, and Captives of the Mighty, just to mention a few.

13. She has authored many books, such as A Successful Ministerial Life in Drama Ministry (2001), The Anxiety of Single Sisters (2002), The Minister and His Wife (2008), Questions of Life for the Singles (2018), Striking a Balance Between Marriage and Ministry (2018), Questions of Life for the Married (2018), and Singles with a Difference (2018).

14. In 2017, she was honoured with the City People Movie Lifetime Achievement Award.

15. She still calls her husband ‘Bro Mike’ to date.

16. She welcomed her first grandchild, a girl, in 2019.
