Your underwear is definitely the last thing people think about when you step out looking glamorous and chic, yet you can’t deny that you need to wash and care for it the right way.
Experts agree that the way women care for their underwear determines how long they last. One even says, “If you really take care of delicate, special items, you can have them for years.”
You might say, “I always wash my underwear,” but the question is, “Are you washing them the right way?”
When it comes to undergarments that aren’t made of durable cotton, hand washing is the best option.

Here are a few things you should have in mind the next time you are washing your delicates.
1. When you hand-wash underwear and other delicates, go for room-temperature or cool water.
2. Use the recommended amount of detergent so you don’t leave excess soap on them
3. If you choose to use the washing machine, take the time to sort them by color beforehand.
4. If you want the elastic recovery to stay, don’t twist or scrunch too much. Rather, put them in the water, swirl them around a bit between both of your hands, and leave them there to soak for a few minutes.
5. You can lay your underwear on a drying rack, but if you want to go the extra mile, use a few towels to let the excess water drain away instead of wringing it out, then pat them on top with another towel so they dry flat and don’t lose their shape.
