The death of popular pastor and televangelist, Pastor Taiwo Odukoya was received with a rude shock on Tuesday, August 8.
According to reports, Odukoya who was the senior pastor of Fountain of Life Church, Ilupeju passed on in the United States at age 67.
The sad news of his demise was announced via the church’s Facebook page. However, the cause of his death was undisclosed. he left behind five children.
As reactions continue to trail the news of his passing, it won’t be out of place to say life dealt a huge blow at the cleric at different seasons of his life which may have in turn led to his early death.
In a space of sixteen years, he suffered heartbreaks losing three of the women most dear to him. In this article, we take a look at the journey of these women and the roles they played in their life.
Bimbo Odukoya
Born on 12 September 1960, Bimbo Odukoya nee Williams was a household name in the late ’90s and early 2000s. She was a televangelist, public speaker, marriage counselor, author, and mentor.
Bimbo was the associate senior pastor of the Fountain of Life Church and was popularly known as the host of Single and Married a television program aired locally and internationally that deals with practical issues people face in marriages and relationships at the time of her tragic death.
The couple who met in school got married in 1984 and were blessed with three children, two girls, and a boy.
She was among the 102 victims of the ill-fated Abuja-Port Harcourt Sosoliso Airlines Flight that crashed during landing at Port Harcourt on December 10, 2005. Bimbo survived the initial impact but died from injuries on 11 December 2005 at age 45. She continues to be a source of inspiration to many even in death.
Nomthi Odukoya
Little to nothing was known about Nomthi Odukoya nee Zulu until her marriage to Taiwo. Their paths had crossed when he came to minister at Triumphant Church International, London, where she worshipped. The couple got married in Lagos in January 2010.
Nomthi soon assumed duties as an associate senior pastor at Fountain of Life Church. She was also the founder of the Fountain Initiative for Social Development (FISD) and was chairperson till her death.
Sadly, Nomthi breathe her last and died on November 9, 2021, after a two-year battle with cancer at age 47. She left behind two boys.
Kehinde Hassan
Weeks after Nomthi’s death, Odukoya also lost his twin sister, Kehinde Hassan to the cold hands of cancer. She passed on December 31, 2021.
