You would agree with us that taking proper care of your wigs are also important as buying one. If you take care of your wig well, you can expect it to last much longer than if it is rarely cared for.

If you want your wig to last for a long time, be sure to follow these essential tips below.

1.Wear Your Wig Less Often

We aren’t saying you shouldn’t wear a wig every day. We’re saying you shouldn’t wear the same wig every day. The less you wear your wig, the longer it will last. Besides that, rotating will allow you to care properly for your wigs on “off” days.

2. Wash Your Wig With Shampoo

We believe you know that washing your hair too often can dry it out, turn it brittle, and make it lose shine. There are wig shampoos and conditioners that are specially made for human hair wigs. Some of the chemicals usually used in shampoo or conditioner are quite harsh, so it is important to get the right ones for your wig.

3.Practice Proper Wig Washing Techniques

For you to make your wig last longer, you have to wash it the right way. Soak your wig in soapy water for a few minutes. Then, gently comb the shampoo through the hair. Gently rinse the wig in clean, warm (not hot) water and comb through. Repeat steps one and two with your conditioning product. Detangle your wig immediately with a detangling brush. Air dry your hair.

4. Keep Your Wig Away From Excess Heat

Everyone knows heat tools damage hair, and the same is true with wigs. Keep your human hair wigs safe by reducing the heat you use on it. When you use a heating tool on your wig the hair gets damaged, dry, and brittle, split ends form, and the hair loses natural shine. Moreover, because wig hair doesn’t repair like natural hair, the damage is permanent.

5. Do Not Sleep Or Shower With Your Wig

Wig bed head is significantly worse than regular bed head. Don’t sleep with your wig on, that could lead to knots in your hair which could lead to the destruction of your wig. Do not also make an attempt of bathing with your wig, it would reduce the quality of the wig.

6. Keep Your Wig Covered

When you aren’t wearing your wig, make sure it is appropriately stored. Keep your wig in a cool room. Leave your wig on a mannequin head (an expensive styrofoam one is fine) and use a light cover to protect the wig from dust and exposure.
