UK Just Appointed A Minister For Loneliness And These Are 7 Things You Should Know About Her


Tracey Crouch  has been appointed as UK’s minister for loneliness by Theresa May, UK Prime Minister causing shock around the world.

The government has said it would develop a strategy on the issue, gather more evidence and statistics, and provide funding for community groups to start activities which connect people.

The prime minister will formally announce the appointment on Wednesday and says she has accepted many of the recommendations made by the commission.

Talking about her decision, The prime minister said: “For far too many people, loneliness is the sad reality of modern life.

“I want to confront this challenge for our society and for all of us to take action to address the loneliness endured by the elderly, by carers, by those who have lost loved ones – people who have no one to talk to or share their thoughts and experiences with.”


Here are some facts about the minister:

1. Her full name Tracey Elizabeth Anne Crouch and she was born 24th of  July 1975.

2. She is a British Conservative politician, and a Member of Parliament (MP) for Chatham and Aylesford.

3. Crouch is a qualified FA football coach and manages a youth girls’ football team.

4.  She gave birth to her first child in February 2016 with her partner Steve Ladner.

5. She is believed to be the first Conservative minister ever to take maternity leave.

6. Crouch is a vice-chair of the All Party Parliamentary Groups on dementia, alcohol misuse.

7. She is an opponent of fox hunting, and is among those Conservative MPs who oppose relaxation of the Hunting Act 2004.
