Rice water has been a tested and trusted remedy for hair growth. It is an ancient Asian treatment that has been used by the women of Yao village and the imperial women alike to grow their hair up to their toes

Fermented rice water is such a potent aid for hair growth. Fermented rice water (which is rice water that has gone a little sour) is significantly better in helping you grow hair.

It contains necessary vitamins for hair growth, such as vitamin B9, vitamin E, and antioxidants. It also contains traces of pitera, a substance produced during the fermentation process.

Pitera is rich in vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and organic acids. Pitera is also known to promote cell regeneration and keep your skin and hair healthy.

How to make rice water

  • Fill a tumbler with rice.
  • Boil it with a little more water than you would use for cooking
  • Strain the water at the top or wait till the water boils, and take the remaining water.
  • You can either use it fresh (but after it has cooled down) or take an airtight glass jar and pour the rice water in it.
  • The water will be very milky or cloudy in colour, and it will be a little thicker than normal water.

Here is how to use rice for hair growth

  • Wash your hair with a sulfate-free shampoo and gently pat dry.
  • Pour the rice water on your hair, going from root to tip, and make sure your scalp is not left out
  • Leave it for 10 to 25 minutes, depending on how much time you have.
  • Gently massage your scalp while you still have the rice water on your hair
  • Rinse your hair with water thoroughly and moisturize as usual
  • Do this once a week religiously to see progress.
